Hair conditioner is an important hair care product. Natural hair conditioner helps to repair our hair, making it healthy and shiny.

What natural conditioner is the best? The one you make yourself!

I created this (see below) hair conditioner formula with several factors in my mind:

Factor 1. I wanted to make a long - lasting, store - like, but natural hair conditioner;

Factor 2. I wanted to minimize the number of chemicals in my formula, therefore I used only a natural preservative and emulsifier;

Factor 3. Some of the ingredients I used have been in my home already (for example hemp protein, essential oil, glycerin). Being resourceful is one of the goals to make items at home.

Lastly, read these several precautions to make sure that you will be using your hair conditioner after.

#1. There is no fragrance added to the hair conditioner, except essential oil. As a result, the hair conditioner might have very little or no smell. It will not smell like a hair conditioner from a store. Adding fragrance to the formula will remove this hair conditioner from the category natural.

#2. Some ingredients might add a color to your hair conditioner (for example protein or essential oils) and sometimes it does not look very appealing.

#3. Since there are no harsh chemicals added to the formula, it is best to use the product within three months.

Long - lasting Hair Conditioner Making Step - By - Step Instructions

1. Before purchasing ingredients for your hair conditioner, determine how much you want to make. The below calculations will yield 250 ml of conditioner.

Also, good quality ingredients bought from a trusted source is essential, otherwise it defeats the whole purpose of doing hair conditioner at home.

Necessary ingredients for hair conditioner making (250 ml):

160 ml Boiled Water

10 g Glycerin

10 g Cold Pressed Pomegranate Seed Oil (or oil of your choice)

7 g Citric Acid

7 g Hemp Protein (or any protein of your choice or store's availability)

2 g Essential Oil (your choice or store's availability)

Container (I used one I had from body cream)

2. Measure 7 g protein powder in a container. Tare the balance to zero and add 7 g citric acid. Tare balance and add 2 g essential oil. Set the mixture aside for later.

3. Boil the 160 ml of water and set aside to add later.

4. Heat cold pressed pomegranate seed oil, emulsifying wax and glycerin over the double boiler until the wax has melted. Fully stir the ingredients together until well combined, and then remove from the heat.

5. Add the previously boiled water to the hot oil mixture. Ideally the water and oils should be at around the same temperature (around 70 -75 C / 160-170 F). Keep stirring until the mixture comes together and thickens slightly.

6. If you find that the mixture separates like curdled milk rather than coming together into a smooth, thick mixture, you probably had ingredients that were too cold or weren't of similar temperatures.

You can easily remedy the situation by placing the double boiler with the mixture over the heat again, and stirring until everything comes together. Remove from the heat again.

7. Allow the mixture to cool slightly before adding the previously measured protein powder, citric acid and essential oil mixture.

8. Stir all the ingredients together well.

9. Once the mixture is consistent in texture, pour it into your container.

10. Let the conditioner cool down before closing the lid.
